I have a genetically inherited condition which has brought with it chronic illness for a large majority of my life.
I have also worked with many clients suffering from serious, sometimes life-threatening, chronic and/or genetic illnesses.
A Functional Medicine approach focuses on returning harmony and balance to the body by removing that which creates imbalance. However, for those faced with the challenge of genetic SNPs, heritable disease or disorders and all the associated symptoms and pain, I have found that a different approach is required.
My mindset for helping such individuals is firstly finding ways to reduce the overall inflammatory load in the body.
I may then use genetic testing to identify if there are SNPs affecting essential biochemical processes and contributing to the manifestation of symptoms.
However, I am always focussed on treating the whole person – not just the tests, the symptoms or the SNPs.
Addressing nutrition, lifestyle and stress will all contribute to a client’s overall health plan. But emotional and psychological therapeutic assistance is often necessary alongside more conventional treatment approaches.
Working with genetic analysis, emotional therapy and physical/biochemical tools, I provide my clients facing such issues with all elements of support that they require in order to find ways to manage and accept their illness and ways to be healthy.
